Has any dog in the history of dogs EVER said no to a treat? Most dogs LOVE food and will gladly eat anything you want to offer them! That’s not always a good thing. Some doggos (Barkley included) have picked up things off the sidewalk and you’re inevitably yelling “WHAT’S IN YOUR MOUTH” and chasing them down to dig it out!

Treats can be a great way to reward your dog, to comfort or calm them, or even to distract them! We’ve all fallen victim to the super sad puppy eyes following you as go through the door to leave. There are SO many treat options out there to it’s important to pay attention to what you are feeding your dogs.

One of the biggest problems we pet parents make is OVER feeding on treats. Those little nuggets are using super dense in calories and while they are super tasty, we’ve got to be careful how much we are giving our dogs. Some dogs also have allergies that need to be considered. The biggest mistake though is giving more than the recommended serving size. Always check the package and dole out those treatos according to your dogs size.

We have a simple recipe you can whip up at home with just four ingredients! All you need to make these DIY pumpkin peanut butter dog treats is: a can of pumpkin puree, peanut butter, 1 egg, and flour. There are obviously a lot of options even with such simple ingredients. Never give your dog peanut butter with Xylitol. In moderation, any peanut butter is safe as long as it doesn’t contain that sugar substitute. Just as humans should opt for whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour when they can, you should also do this for your dog. Anytime you can get more fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals you should!
